Adrian Groves, Falcon's Area Sales Manager (ASM) for the East of England, was recently invited to join his eldest son Benjamin for lunch at his primary school in Peterborough as part of National School Meals Week. As an interested father, ex-caterer and committee member of the local LACA group, Adrian was delighted to attend to see for himself the standard of food provided for the children.
Adrian commented "While I am familiar with the school menu that is sent out to parents a week in advance, I was surprised by the sheer number of daily themed menu options. On the day I attended there were five main course items – including vegetarian and fish options, a choice of potato or bread, and as many vegetables or selection from the salad bar as you wanted. I chose macaroni cheese with vegetables while Benjamin had a tuna salad. The meals were served efficiently, mine was tasty and nutritious and as far as I could make out the children seemed to enjoy their food as there were plenty of cleared plates and very little food left at the end of service."
"The quality and choice on offer is far greater than I appreciated and it's certainly a massive step up from when I was at school!" continued Adrian. "School caterers play an extremely important role in providing our children with a healthy, nutritious and tasty meal which provides them with the energy they need to grow and learn. I really enjoyed the experience and as a parent am delighted at the quality of food provided for my children."
The school kitchen has used Falcon equipment for many years and currently uses Falcon’s Dominator G2102 6-burner convection range to produce the wide variety of menu items offered.
