Junior Buyer

Role Definition: 
The Junior Buyer will control the raising of purchase orders, storing and consumption of materials, to maintain a regular and timely supply of materials to the factory, at the same time, avoiding overstocking. They will also be responsible for generating PPV Opportunities.

Key Accountabilities: 
• To manage and maintain spares and accessories co-ordinating with Customer Service to ensure best delivery dates to customers
• To release purchase orders in accordance with operational requirements and ensure the timely rescheduling of these as required to ensure efficient supply of materials to the factory at all time
• Provide data on availability of dates, communicating potential issues arising with material availability, clearly and in a timely manner to allow planning of production
• To manage the stock risk attached to long lead time & single sourced materials by ensuring enough stocks maintained to meet demand through ensuring system parameters are correct: Review and reorder levels / minimum order quantities and directly contacting suppliers to check lead times
• Ensure correct and accurate records and reports are maintained such as daily reports on purchase order receipts, standard cost versus purchase order, non acknowledged orders from suppliers
• Work with R&D & Supply Chain Manager to find cost reduction opportunities for PPV, using Alternatives or negotiation with Suppliers
• To evaluate the material process and suggest possible improvements through ongoing analysis. Identify trends and spikes and understand reasons for these
• Update systems to track and pursue availability of materials to provide assurance of efficient supply
• Maintaining adequate stock levels of all consumable and production materials to support efficient operation of the factory
• Manage Supplier’s with Supply Chain Manager, and arrange & hold meetings as and when required to ensure business needs met & maintained

• 3 Year Experience in Purchasing Role 
• Detail conscious
• Customer focussed
• Able to work on their own and be self motivated,
• Inter-personal skills
• Excellent IT skills (MS packages, Syspro or equivalent MRP)
• Vendor management, 
• Work as part of a team
