Make the most of your BBQ with these delicious recipes:

The Ultimate Hot Dog

  • 4 x Jumbo Butcher’s Pork Hot Dog Sausages or 300g Boerewors
  • 1 x Large Onion finely sliced
  • 1 x Granny Smith Apple
  • 4 sprigs Lemon thyme
  • 20g Onion Chutney
  • 1 x Clove Garlic
  • 20ml Sunflower oil
  • 20ml American Mustard
  • 4 x Brioche buns
  • 20g Salted Butter

 

Over medium heat, fry the onions, crushed garlic and grated apple in oil till soft, turn heat up slightly and caramelize, then add chutney and season with salt and white ground pepper. Keep warm.

Over medium heat, grill the sausages till golden coloured on all sides, core probe check to 75°C
Now, slice then butter the brioche buns, add sausage, then onions and finally the mustard. 

Go on, tuck in!

For a more adult version, why not add apple cider to the onions during cooking, and swap the American style mustard with Arran Wholegrain or Dijon Mustard. A generous crumbling of Applewood Smoked Cheddar Cheese over the top, elevates the Humble Dog to a Posh Nosh Dog!

 

Best Beef Burger

  • 24oz Scotch Beef Steak Mince 12% fat
  • 1 x Red Onion finely diced
  • Pinch Mixed dried herbs or freshly chopped parsley
  • 1 x Egg beaten
  • Pinch White pepper
  • 2x pinch Sea salt
  • Pinch Coriander powder
  • ½ pinch Ground cloves
  • 4 x Sesame seed buns
  • 1 x Gem lettuce
  • 40g Fresh tomato salsa
  • 40g Mayonnaise
  • 4 x Gherkins
  • 40g Mrs Balls Chutney
  • 4 x Mature cheddar cheese slices

 

Mix the ingredients for the burgers together, shape and press the patties, then grill over medium heat. ¼ turn on two minutes, then flip on 4 minutes, do the same on this side. After 8 mins, check core temperature, top with cheese slice and rest in warm zone for at least two minutes. 

Now slice and toast the buns, then on bottom add mayonnaise, gem lettuce, gherkin and burger.
On the top add Mrs Balls Chutney, then the salsa and close your burger. 

Ready, just grab one and chomp away!
