Valentine's Shortbread

Valentine's Day 14th February 2022

Makes around 30 pieces

Ingredients

568g Plain Flour
114g Cornflour
454g Butter
226g Castor Sugar

Method

  • Lightly combine all ingredients together until a dough just starts to form.
  • On well-floured surface, roll into a sheet around 1cm thick.
  • With a heart shaped cutter, or shape of your choice, cut out around 30 pieces.
  • Place on grease proof paper, on oven tray, leaving plenty of space between each piece.
  • Bake in oven for approximately 40 minutes at 150oC.
  • Sprinkle with castor sugar or dip in flavoured and or coloured chocolate.

 

Tips

  • Creativity with shortbread is very easy. Fine chocolate chips, dried raspberries finely chopped, rose petals, rosewater, lavender essence, coffee, are all ingredients that will elevate your shortbread for Valentine’s Day.
  • Why not try using golden caster sugar in the recipe, or add pinches of sea salt flakes in the recipe to make interesting flavour contrasts. 
  • Most importantly – enjoy with your sparkling wine of choice … or that special cappuccino or espresso at the end of your meal. 
  • Pass out to those you love and appreciate, enjoy!
